Food

The Abbey Inn, Byland Abbey

TJ describes his food as 'simple, rustic, a little bit eclectic and above all full of flavour'. He says: "I like to let the ingredients speak for themselves and keep it simple. I hate dishes with 10 different ingredients on the plate - you forget what you're eating and the menu is too long winded to read. I use the best quality produce I can get and use as many local suppliers as I can, but I won't sacrifice quality for locality. Far too many places are jumping on the 'local bandwagon' but they forget about quality. We are also honest about sourcing if we say it's local, it is and we know exactly where it comes from, we don't just write it on the menu to impress the critics!"

We can cater for all dietary requirements provided we know about them! Please mention any allergies or needs when you book.
